Virgin Galactic

About Virgin Galactic

Virgin Galactic is the world’s first commercial spaceline. Our goal is to dramatically improve humanity’s ability to travel to and through outer space and we are well on our way: Currently, we are conducting flight testing for a fleet of privately-built spacecraft. Based closely on the historic SpaceShipOne (SS1)—which safely carried humans into space in 2004, thereby claiming the $10M Ansari X PRIZE and earning a spot in the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum—these vehicles have been designed to set new standards for spaceflight safety, frequency, flexibility, and cost. Ultimately, we seek to make space accessible to everyone.

We have accepted deposits for 560 reservations, more than the # of people who have ever been to space!

Our spaceflight system consists of two vehicles: WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) & SpaceShipTwo (SS2).

VG is also leveraging the technical and business success of the suborbital program to enter an additional core market by building and operating a new vehicle designed to give satellite operators a radically better option for carrying their small satellites into orbit. This new vehicle, LauncherOne, is custom designed to provide an affordable, dedicated ride to orbit for smaller payloads; Additionally, SS2 can be configured to carry more than 1,000 pounds of research equipment inside the cabin, giving scientists, engineers, and educators a great new way to affordably conduct experiments in weightlessness.
